New halls of residence in Winchester

On-site accommodation at Sparsholt

The residential community at Sparsholt College is a mix of over 400 students. The accommodation is a range of en-suite and shared facilities in a friendly, supportive and high quality environment. In 2010, Ofsted identified the College as an outstanding provider of education, care and skills.

On site accommodation is mainly en-suite, either self-catered or with an inclusive meal package.

The College does have an accommodation policy to determine allocation of accommodation based on the student's home address and whether or not it is feasible to travel in on a daily basis.

You can indicate your requirement for accommodation through the application form and a further detailed application pack will be sent out during January before you arrive.

Please note that accommodation fees are charged annually for the entire academic year, including Reading Breaks, (rooms must be vacated for the Christmas and Easter holiday periods and all rooms must be cleared of belongings for the Easter vacation).

When applying for College accommodation you are expected to commit to staying in this accommodation for the whole academic year.

Room prices do not include bedding. Students may be responsible for their own or they may hire bedding at a reasonable rate.

Private accommodation near Sparsholt

For those who prefer to live in an independent or family setting, the College can help with arranging private accommodation but cannot guarantee to provide or find a place on behalf of students.

Catering

The catering services provide a wide range of facilities. Bytes, the main student restaurant, is available for all main meals and offers considerable choice including ‘healthy option’ and vegetarian menus. Special diets can be catered for with advance notification. Students resident in catered halls are provided with a meal card which gives a basic food allowance (better than carrying around a pocketful of cash). Other students can purchase a meal card for convenience. The meal cards can be used in Bytes and MJ’s.

MJ's provides a service all through the day from 7.30am until 9.30pm during the week and at locally published times at weekends. It is an alternative venue to Bytes offering meals, light snacks and a “take-away” service in the evenings. In addition Fit Jym’s is open and offers a baguette bar, coffees, cakes and gateaux during the day time in a quieter environment. The College prides itself on its good value catering. A suite of vending machines for snacks and drinks is open all day and evenings for other purchases.

The College Shop

The shop carries a wide range of stock which caters for most students’ daily requirements. Daily papers and magazines can be bought, together with food, confectionery, snacks, stationery and souvenirs.
