Sparsholt College’s Celebration of Motor Vehicles not only proved a huge success with car fans but also with Macmillan Cancer Support who were beneficiaries of the show. Richard Martin, interim Fundraising Manager from the charity recently met the College’s Motor Vehicle team at their brand new workshops to collect the £1450 which was raised on the day.

Organiser and Motor Vehicle lecturer Dave Andrews said: “A friend and supporter of the department is recovering from cancer so we were keen to organise an event which celebrated motor vehicles whilst also giving something back. This was the ideal opportunity for people to show off their cars and for others to enjoy the wonderful, varied world that is all things motorised. Macmillan Cancer Support were the ideal charity to benefit and we were very proud to be able to make such a sizeable donation to them.”

On the day the vehicles on display included cars, bikes, super cars, vintage vehicles, rally cars, kit cars and sports cars. Stalls, raffles and family activities provided plenty of entertainment for those looking for some non-car fun.

Sparsholt College recently opened their brand new Motor Vehicle and Agriculture Engineering department which has five workshops dedicated to the teaching of motor vehicle maintenance with a further workshop set up for teaching welding and fabrication metal work. There are a range of courses on offer from Apprenticeships to the Level 3 Diploma.
