Sparsholt lecturing staff take every opportunity to stay up to date with developments in their specialist fields. This includes attendance at conferences, technical updating in the work place and conducting new research. Some examples of recent industry involvement are outlined below.

Adrian Love (lecturer in Fisheries Studies, pictured) was one of only 16 successful applicants to attend a week at the Sanger Institute labs near Cambridge investigating recent developments in molecular genetics. As well as valuable practical updating, the week also provided lectures from some of the leading specialists in the fields of animal and bacterial genetics and disease.

Mandy Tamba (course tutor for the FdSc VN programme) spent a week over the summer working in equine practice; assisting with surgery, lameness work ups, and riding school inspections. She also spent a further 2 weeks working on a cattle ranch in Wyoming.
