Level 3 Sports Fishery student Tim Gladdings recently enjoyed a great opportunity to be involved in a netting operation – here’s his report:

“Jordan New, George Howlett and myself were offered the opportunity to work with the employees of Combely Lakes in a netting operation carried out in order to check the stock of the onsite fishery and sell fish to an accompanied buyer. The lake itself, which was previously a fishery, is being converted to a stock pond for the purpose of the farming of fish, hence the reason for carrying out the stock check.

“The netting itself was very successful and included three carp over 40lbs, more than 50 carp to over 30lbs and masses of pike up to 25lbs.”

In other news, view photos on our Facebook page of our Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma groups showing Alan Blair from Nash Tackle around our facilities. Alan really enjoyed the day and said he was blown away by the facilities and the knowledge and professionalism of our students. He has subsequently offered the students the opportunity to visit Nash HQ before the end of the academic year!
