Our Level 3 Extended Diploma and Diploma in Fish Management groups recently descended upon Sandhurst Lake, part of the famous Yateley complex on the Hampshire/Surrey border, to undertake some stock management work.

Fishery manager and ex-student Nick Leach had contacted the College to assist with the removal of the huge bream inhabiting the lake which would reduce the overall biomass, allowing the specimen carp to grow even further.

As well as the bream, many carp were also caught in the seine nets, the biggest of which weighed just over 40lb. These fish were subsequently micro chipped in order to protect the fish from theft and allowing Nick to monitor the growth of the fish.
