Learning Through Achievement

This entry level course is about enjoying learning through achievement and will help students with learning difficulties develop their learning and social skills.

The Course makes full use of the College facilities including the farm, the Animal Management Centre and the extensive horticulture facilities and land-scaped grounds, but Foundation students benefit from a dedicated base on the campus to provide familiar and secure surroundings.

This course covers NPTC, ASDAN, NOCN, City and Guilds and other qualifications, with an emphasis on the vocational areas of animal care, livestock, floristry and horticulture.

  • Entry Level 1 - develop and promote independent living skills
  • Entry 2 - available in animal care, agricultural animals, floristry and horticulture.
  • Entry 3 - Earning a BTEC Awards and NPTC Skills for Working Life

Entry requirements

  • A general interest in working with plants and animals.
  • Learners who need support with learning.

Possible outcomes include:

  • Progression to a Level 1 course
  • Supervised work in industry
  • Apprenticeships

The course is especially designed for learners who will benefit from generous regular learning support from specialist staff.

Equipment Required

Please make sure you have at least one set of named overalls, a pair of steel toe capped safety boots and wellingtons plus a warm waterproof coat in order to take part in the practical sessions. You can order these from Creative Images on 01794 322026.
