National Apprenticeship Week 2013

Sparsholt College is once again supporting the National Apprenticeship Week, taking place 11-15 March 2013.  Now in its sixth year, this week is designed to celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy.

The College will be attending two events being held as part of the national Apprenticeship campaign.

Milestones Museum in Basingstoke on Monday 11 March 2013 will host a presentation by Peter Bewsey, former Group Chief Executive of Chelsea Village PLC and Chief Executive of Britain’s largest company National Car Parks Ltd. Peter will be sharing his ‘Secrets of Business Success’ and the event also hopes to highlight the benefits of employing an apprentice, the best way to recruit an apprentice and demonstrate how Apprenticeships can be good for business.

The following week on 19 March 2013, the team will be supporting an Apprenticeship event at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton.  An early breakfast meeting will demonstrate how apprentices can benefit business and how the business case for employing one is increasingly strong.  Thereafter local schools have been invited in to give their students a taste of Apprenticeship related activities, from wiring and plumbing to cocktail making and hair and beauty skills.

In addition to meeting employers and students attending these events, Sparsholt College is also offering local employers the opportunity of a one to one visit from one of the dedicated members of the Apprenticeship team. This visit will provide the employer and their colleagues guidance and advice on taking on an apprentice - how best to find the quality of apprentice need whilst talking through the range of apprenticeship programmes on offer at the College.

Over 250,000 employers already recognise the benefits of training their existing staff and recruiting apprentices. Such benefits have been identified as: - increased productivity, reduced recruitment & training costs and improved staff loyalty & retention.  The apprenticeship programmes help employers to ‘mould’ employees through a mixture of training and on-the-job experience, thus providing the right level of knowledge and skills.

Sparsholt College has a fantastic reputation and have been running highly successful Programmes for many years using only industry experienced assessors and lecturers and are constantly renewing and developing new areas of provision.
