BTEC Introductory Diploma in Land and Environment (Level 1) - Animal Care
Here is a one-year course for keen school-leavers who have an interest in working with animals. It is designed to lead those without higher grade GCSEs towards a BTEC First Diploma or into interesting animal care employment.
Much of the course will involve practical skills work, providing essential animal handling techniques, together with classroom-based theory to provide useful relevant knowledge.

Career progression
The course is designed to allow progression to the BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care.
Entry requirements
Applicants should have two good references (e.g. from school and/or previous work experience supervisor), and be expected to hold at least two GCSEs at grades D and E.
Assessment
Assessment is internally set and is continuous throughout the academic year. Assessment can be via projects/assignments, practical work or short tests.
