Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care - Level 2-3

For people who want to help the vulnerable people in society, a career in health and social care will be fulfilling and satisfying. Apprentices will work in a care setting such as care homes or clinics, and can include anything from helping people get dressed to transporting them to and from a residential home. The role could also cover being a personal care assistant, helping someone in their everyday life. The ideal Apprentice will be sympathetic and caring, interested in the wellbeing of vulnerable people, good at communicating and good at working as part of a team.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

During this programme you will learn skills to care for vulnerable people such as the disabled or elderly in care homes or as a personal care assistant. You will learn personal care and transporting people, as well as communication, equality and diversity and regulatory procedures in care.

The Apprenticeship will cover the tasks performed by a care worker, day care assistant or healthcare assistant. An Apprenticeship will also help develop a professional working style, safe working practices, awareness of the work environment and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers.

Other skills will include functional skills needed in the work place (Maths, English, ICT) and specialist qualifications such as the Emergency First Aid Certificate.
