What will I learn?

This programme is designed for those who have problems in dealing with challenging situations whilst at work. The course delivers practical information that can be put into practice to help resolve situations in an effective and assertive manner.

This half day programme will cover:

  • Defining a difficult situation
  • Analysis of different behavioural styles
  • The different responses to and effective ways of dealing with anger
  • Identifying different communication techniques and exploring the most appropriate methods to use when dealing with difficult situations
  • Assertiveness techniques and how to use these
  • The dos and don’ts of effective negotiating skills
  • Dealing with conflict in a positive manner
  • Giving feedback in difficult situations

    Productive working relationships are a key contributor in enabling organisations to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness, especially in times of stress or when changes are happening. Resolving difficult situations in a prompt and effective manner will enable working relationships to continue running smoothly with minimum disruption.

    It may be possible to modify content to meet individual needs after discussion with the trainer

    Where will it lead me?

    Learners may also be interested in our Developing Assertiveness Skills aimed at anyone who feels they would like to be able to be more assertive (or less aggressive).

    There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

    Please Note

    Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started their course.
