What will I learn?

It is never pleasant for an employer when they have to downsize or make staff redundant. Aimed at organisations without an HR professional, this course cannot promise to make this less painful, but it will demystify the process. Delegates will learn about

  • restructures, downsizing and redundancy
  • the process involved and the approach to take
  • pooling, bumping and selecting (what these technical terms mean and how to undertake the correct procedure)
  • how to undertake collective & individual consultation
  • the fair reasons to dismiss as laid down by employment legislation
  • the risks involved and how to mitigate them
  • employee forums & elections
  • TUPE (employment rights when a transfer of undertakings occurs ie when an organisation merges with another or is taken over) – due diligence, consultation and transfer

    Where will it lead me?

Delegates may also be interested in some of our other HR courses aimed at those dealing with HR issues but without an HR professional. These include Recruiting the Right People for Your Business and Writing an Employment Contract and Employee Handbook for Your Business
