What will I learn?
This welding course is ideal if you are already working in welding and are looking to develop your skills further to increase responsibilities and knowledge. The course is accredited which means that if you complete all five assignments plus one oral knowledge test, you will be awarded a City and Guilds Level 2 certificate.
The course will cover the following aspects of MIG welding:
Health and Safety requirements relevant to welding
Producing a butt weld in the PA flat position and vertical position
Producing a lap fillet in the vertical position
Producing a tee fillet weld in the vertical position
Producing a tube-to-plate tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal and vertical position
Factors that influence weld quality
Delegates will need to bring fire retardant overalls, welding gauntlets and and safety boots.
Learners should either have completed the Introduction to Welding course at Sparsholt College or have some experience of MMA welding.
Where will it lead me?
Delegates who complete this course may progress on to the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Advanced Welding Skills held at Sparsholt College
Entry Requirements
Learners should either have completed our Introduction to Welding course or have some experience of MIG welding. Learners may be invited to a test weld before they are accepted on the course
