What will I learn?

The City & Guilds Level 2 TIG award is available as two parts A.C. TIG for welding aluminium or D.C. TIG for welding low carbon steels and stainless steels. Each course is a standalone Award qualification.

Suitable for both hobbyists and those who undertake TIG welding in their jobs, this course will cover

  • Producing a butt weld in the flat position and vertical position
  • Producing a lap fillet in the vertical position
  • Producing a tee fillet weld in the vertical position
  • Producing a tube-to-plate tee fillet weld in the horizontal and vertical position
  • Factors that influence weld quality and Health and Safety requirements relevant to welding

    Where will it lead me?

    Having completed this course, learners will be able to progress onto our L3 Award in Advanced Welding Skills (TIG). The Level 3 is an industry standard qualification and upon completion learners will be able to apply for welding jobs.

    Entry Requirements

    Learners should either have completed our Introduction to Welding or Introduction to TIG Welding course at Andover or Sparsholt College or have experience of TIG Welding.

    Learners may be asked to attend a test weld and interview to check their suitability for the course.
