Sparsholt College to Host Twelfth Annual Coarse Fish Meeting
Viv Shears of VS Fisheries Ltd, Bernice Brewster of Aquatic Consultancy Services and Sparsholt College, the Country’s leading Fishery Studies centre, are delighted to announce that we are holding the twelfth annual meeting for all those involved in the coarse fish farming and fisheries sector on Thursday, 31st August 2017.
The talks commence at 09.15hrs on the 31st with the day drawing to a close at around 17.30hrs. A variety of interesting current topics, presented by leading experts in their field, will be covered through the day. Planned presentations for this year include;

- CEFAS Update – the past 12 months
- Fisheries Insurance Update
- Otter Fencing and Embryo
- Fish Legal – Supporting the Industry
- Carp Fisheries – Trends and Problems
- Riverine Habitat Improvement
- Signal Crayfish – Practical Control Methods
A free social event is planned for the evening of Wednesday, 30th August, with a guided tour of the College’s top class fish facilities including the Salmonid Rearing and Trials Centre, the College Fishery and the Aquatic Research & Conservation Centre, followed by a fantastic BBQ sponsored by Skretting. This should be a great opportunity for many attendees to meet and relax over a drink along with discussing the hot issues that are affecting the coarse fish world. On-site B&B rooms are available to all of you travelling from further afield or who wish to enjoy the social evening. Tickets are £42.50 per person, which includes a buffet lunch and refreshments throughout the day – see booking form.
