When we postponed our 2020 Graduation Ceremony from its original date of 15 July to 23 October 2020, we felt hopeful that we would still be able to deliver an exceptional event for our exceptional graduands as planned.
Unfortunately, due to reasons related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, further conversations with Winchester Cathedral regarding social distancing and event numbers we know it would be extremely hard to adhere to safety procedures whilst providing the full graduation experience. Therefore, we regret to advise that graduation for our students will not take place in 2020 and will be postponed to a date to be confirmed in 2021.
Dean of Higher Education, Caroline James said: “University Centre Sparsholt have taken the decision to postpone our physical graduation ceremony due to the ongoing situation with coronavirus. Graduation is the pinnacle of a student’s academic journey and we want to ensure our students receive the best possible experience to celebrate with tutors, classmates, friends and family after such an exceptional year.
“We love hosting this ceremony and seeing our students create lasting memories however, we understand the importance of minimising the risk to our students and guests at this time. We look forward to holding the ceremony when it is safe to do so.”
Final year students who are graduating will still receive their awards and will be able to use their qualifications to apply for employment or further study, degree transcripts will be sent to you directly from the University of Portsmouth in due course. This is not affected by the postponement of the ceremony.
