About Me

I have spent over seven years as an international competition groom and head groom in several Olympic Eventing Yards, including Karin Donckers, TT Eventing, Lisa Sabbe and Sam Watson. I have groomed at numerous three-day events, including Pau 4* and Luhmuhlen 4*, as well as breaking and re-training competition horses up to international level.

I also previously ran my own competition yard once returning home to Ireland, where I had several clients, both from Ireland and Europe, who transported horses to my yard for breaking, re-training and competition riding. In addition to this, I also have my BHSAI qualification, with nearly a decade of teaching/coaching experience, at both riding schools and for private clients up to 1* level eventing. Finally, I also possess my DEFRA Artificial Insemination Technician’s qualification, as well as having experience handling, covering and schooling stallions, both at competition yards and studs.

My academic qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma from Aberystwyth University (the theoretical aspect of the MSc course), and a BSc(Hons) in Equine Management. I am also in the process of completing a Bitting Analyst course with Nueue Schule, and hope to begin an MRes in the near future.

My areas of interest include Equitation, Performance and Behaviour; but I also currently teach units such as Evolution, Domestication and Behaviour, Industry Skills, Academic Skills, Equine Business Administration and Equitation and Coaching. First and foremost, I have a real passion for helping to bridge the gap between the performance industry and the current generation of young academic students.
