About Me
I have a slightly unusual background having started my teaching career in the British Army as an Educational and Training Services Officer. I studied for my Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) PGCE whilst serving. Having completed two operational tours to Bosnia and Iraq, as well as service in Germany, I left the Army in 2012 to take up a new career in civilian teaching.

Academically I have a science background, graduating from the University of York in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Health Science. I completed an MSc in Equine Science through The Royal (Dick) Veterinary School, University of Edinburgh in 2012. My special areas of interest include behaviour, welfare and nutrition, with a particular interest in the effect of nutrition on behaviour. My MSc dissertation focussed on the effect of Omega 3 Fatty Acids on equine behaviour. I am also a true educationalist and have a keen interest in teaching and learning development. I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Innovation and Learning at Southampton University in 2011.

I have ridden and been around horses all my life, working with them for a brief time before joining the Army, and hold my BHS Stage 3. I regularly compete with my Han x SF eventer, currently at BE100 level, getting out most weekends in the season.
