Academic entry requirements

These entry requirements are for guidance only, please contact the International Office if you have any questions about the eligibility of your own qualifications.

If you are studying in an international school teaching A levels or IB please refer to our UK/EU entry qualifications. If you are studying in an international school under the US system, please consult our US entry requirements.

Level 3 Diploma

高等学校卒業証書 Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate) in relevant subjects may be appropriate for entry onto Level 3 courses.

FdSc foundation degree

Successful completion of one year at a Japanese university, completion of a Junior College Diploma, and a College of Technology Diploma in relevant subjects may be appropriate for entry onto a FdSc course. Please note the requirement for mathematics and science subjects.

BSc(Hons) undergraduate degree

Successful completion of one year at a Japanese university, completion of a Junior College Diploma, a College of Technology Diploma, and a 専門士 (Diploma) in relevant subjects may be appropriate for entry onto a BSc(Hons) degree course. Please note the requirement for mathematics and science subjects.

MSc postgraduate degree

Satisfactory completion of a relevant undergraduate degree at 2.2 or above.

English language requirements

Please note that only Secure English Language Tests are valid for Tier 4 (General) student visas. The location of your nearest SELT provider is listed here.

IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall, with a minimum 5.0 in any band; please see here for the list of approved English language tests.

FdSc foundation degree

IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall, with a minimum 5.5 in any band; please see here for the list of approved English language tests.

BSc(Hons) undergraduate degree

IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall, with a minimum 5.5 in any band; please see here for the list of approved English language tests.

MSc postgraduate degree

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall, with a minimum 6.0 in any band; please see here for the list of approved English language tests.

Visa requirements
