Andover Town FC is celebrating an impressive achievement of getting through to the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup. Students from Sparsholt Football Academy and Sparsholt’s sister college Andover College made a key contribution to winning the match.
521 teams entered the FA Youth Cup in this year’s competition and after 6 gruelling rounds the students showcased their talent in an exciting game last night against Wingate and Finchley. They secured their place in the 3rd round when student Jack made a vital Penalty save resulting in a 8-7 win.
Coach Neil Benson said: “We are very proud of the achievements that our young Academy footballers have made through their success when playing in the FA Youth Cup. Head Coach Lewis Benson has been pivotal in the planning and match preparation.”
The team is now set to play Ipswich Town in November.
