The National Zoo Academy represents the gold standard for anyone aspiring to enter, already employed or wanting to develop their skills in the zoo industry. Sparsholt is unique in the British Isles in offering the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) as well as its post-16 and degree courses. DMZAA is one of the only official qualifications for zookeepers and is considered essential for anyone in the zookeeping profession throughout the British Isles, Europe and worldwide.

Our extensive Animal Management Centre was one of the first licensed zoos in a UK College or University and it provides leading-edge facilities to support our extensive programmes up to Master’s degree level as well as supporting the improvement of animal welfare and promoting conservation. University Centre Sparsholt colleagues are working closely with the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria Academy on an Erasmus + funded project to create the European zookeeper qualification network.

The College’s staff work closely with a host of established industry figures from across the world and play a significant role in supporting research groups in both BIAZA and EAZA to improve welfare and promote conservation within the zoo industry.

The National Zoo Academy is proud to serve the zoological profession.
