Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine lecturer, Dr Kerry Perkins has recently joined the Hampshire STEM Team to help bring a new and inspiring perspective to STEM lessons and career opportunities for young people across the county after transferring from her previous STEM post which she has held foyears in Sussex.

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate the value of them in life and careers. With over 30,000 STEM Ambassadors from more than 2,500 different employers, Kerry is certainly in with good company.

STEM Ambassadors are an important and exciting free of charge resource for teachers and others engaging with young people inside and out of the classroom. They can also run online activities via video call.

Kerry commented: “I’m so excited to be volunteering in HampshireSTEM subjects are fascinating and so important to engage with from a young age – I can’t wait to start taking part in sessions with local primary schools and other young people in the upcoming months !”
