New Students

Welcome to Sparsholt Campus! To make your first few days at College as smooth as possible, we have created a handy ‘how to…’ guide to help you with the important task of activating your college IT account. You must activate your College IT Account before your first day at College.

You will need:

  • A PC, laptop or tablet to activate your account (you must activate your account on one of the above device types – you cannot use a smartphone).
  • A smartphone that you own or have constant access to, to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (this is known as your authenticator device and you will need this with you when at college, as you will be prompted every so often to authenticate your account).
  • Your welcome letter or email with your student ID number on it

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is essential at college to help keep your college account secure. The steps in the guide below will support you to complete the activation process. If you do not own a smartphone please email ITLogin@sparsholt.ac.uk

If you have forgotten your college Microsoft login password, you can reset your own password.

You will need:

  • A registered MFA device.
  • Your full college user ID/email address.
  • Access to a website from ANY device.

Visit https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ or scan the QR code.

Remember your email/username is your student number + @stu.sparsholt.ac.uk

For example 27001234@stu.sparsholt.ac.uk.

If you need help you can email us at itlogin@sparsholt.ac.uk

I’ve got a new phone, and I need to set up Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Sign into your college Microsoft account, ideally on a computer via this link My Account

Click on view your devices.

You will see your old phone. To remove your old phone as a listed device, click on Disable device.

On your new phone download the Microsoft Authenticator App (MFA).

iOS Microsoft Authenticator App (MFA).

Android Microsoft Authenticator App (MFA).

Link to Google Play app store

Once installed open the Multi Factor Authentication App and sign in with your email account.

Click the + icon at the top of the screen in the Authenticator app on your new phone to add a new account.

Select Work or School account.

Click on Scan QR code.

Go back to your PC or Laptop that you have open, and you will see a QR code will appear. Use your new phone to scan the QR code.

On your phone, you will now see that your college IT account has been added to your authenticator app.

Microsoft will now continue signing you into your college IT account. You will be asked to verify your sign-in request by typing in the number on your PC screen, into the authenticator app.

If you cannot access your college account on a computer or your original phone, please email itlogin@sparsholt.ac.uk to request to deactivate your old phone account. Make sure you include your college ID.

I’m struggling to log into Student Portal – what do I do?

Click on this link and choose ‘Forgot your password?’ http://portal.sparsholt.ac.uk

You will need to be able to access your college email account when resetting your Portal password because a verification email will be sent to your college email account.
