As part of our Level 3 courses in land-based subjects, full-time students aged 16-19 will complete a placement with an industry-specific external employer or voluntary organisation. A win-win for both students and employers, industry placements provide opportunities to apply knowledge learned at college to the workplace and develop relevant industry-specific skills. They help increase confidence, communication skills, teamwork and problem-solving techniques and allow you to test your career choices and aspirations.
On completion of your placement, we will secure an employer reference for you which you can use to build relationships with employers to secure potential job or apprenticeship opportunities for the future.
One dedicated placement day per week will form a part of your weekly timetable across the academic year and Students will be expected to source a potential placement opportunity prior to the start of their course. Our Industry Placement team will be here to support and guide you from start to finish should you require their help.
The Industry Placement team are wonderful and helped me set up a placement investigating the effects of a new pesticide combined with other factors on honeybees. It was a great experience and I learnt a lot of new skills that I will take with me to university. – Jasmine, Animal Management Student.
