T Level Industry Placements & Foundation T Level Work Experience

Whether you will be undertaking one of our T Level qualifications or a Foundation T Level course at Andover or Sparsholt campuses, full-time students aged 16-18 will complete a mandatory industry placement(s) or a shorter-term block of work experience with a relevant external employer or voluntary organisation to complement your studies. This will provide you with opportunities to:

  • Apply the knowledge learned at college to the workplace
  • Improve your communication, teamwork, confidence and problem-solving skills
  • See how a business operates in the real world
  • Identify & develop key technical strengths and skills you will need in full-time work
  • Test your career choices and aspirations
  • Line up an employer reference and achieve an additional college certificate for future use
  • Develop your placement into part-time work alongside your studies and/or full-time employment with your employer once you have completed your time with us

For students undertaking a T Level qualification, you will complete a mandatory industry placement as part of your course where the normal placement model occurs, one dedicated placement day per week, as a part of your weekly timetable across the academic year (Within some T Level courses, block-week placement time will be built into your College term-time schedule).

Where employers can support this, you can also utilise weekends and holiday periods to achieve the minimum placement hours required for your course. Across each academic year there are three half-term reading breaks (October; February; May) and three blocks out of term time (Christmas; Easter; Summer) where students can gain additional industry experience that can go towards the ‘hours’ requirement for your industry placement and course.

For students undertaking a Foundation T Level course, you will complete shorter-term work experience via a block-week placement. You will be given time in your College calendar to complete this requirement. Industry Placement and Curriculum staff will be here to support you from start to finish, with a combination of onsite placement visits and classroom sessions through the year to monitor progress with your placement and work experience activity and the logging and recording of your hours and experiences.

Get ahead of the rest and get your industry placement sorted before you start your course with us!

On completion of your industry placement, we will secure an employer reference for you which you can use to build relationships with employers to secure potential job or apprenticeship opportunities for the future.

My Industry Placement has been such a good experience. You just learn so much about the industry that you’re getting in to – this is your chance to get a taste of what it’s going to be like. If you put the work in, there are loads of rewards!”
