Each subject area has its own requirements for clothing and personal protective equipment that must be worn. Please select your subject area below for information on the items you need to obtain.

Please note if you require a white lab coat these can be sourced from any supplier, this does not have to be bought exclusively from creative images.

  • First Years:

  • As part of UCS, HE equine students have their own branded purple clothing which they can purchase. It is recommended that all HE equine students wear UCS branded clothing at the Equine Centre for both practical and riding sessions. The basic purchase that we recommend for the Equine Centre is a UCS equine polo and a hoodie/jumper, this and additional clothing is available online at Creative Images here.

    As part of the Equine Centre policy, students must have the following essential items:

    ·  Riding hat meeting current approved standard

    ·  Dark coloured plain jodhpurs/breeches

    ·  Long leather/rubber riding boots (black or brown) or jodhpur boots and leather gaiters/half chaps for riding (please note suede and canvas chaps or Dubarry or similar boots are not permitted for riding)

    ·  Appropriate coloured yard footwear when not riding (trainers are not permitted at the Equine Centre)

    ·  Body protector meeting current BS1 Standard (compulsory for all jumping if students choose to jump later in the year)

    ·  Plain coloured riding gloves

    ·  Hairnets for those with long/layered hair

    ·  1 x schooling whip – plain dark colour

    ·  1 x jumping whip – plain dark colour

    ·  Suitable waterproof clothing for the yard

    In addition to this, all students must have a white lab coat for laboratory sessions. This can be purchased from a variety of outlets, for example, Amazon. However, Creative Images also stock these: Creative Images website

  • Student Veterinary Nurse scrub top from creative images (colour: aqua/ pale green and white stripes)

    Student Veterinary Nurse Trousers (colour: dark green)

    Black smart (but comfortable shoes) e.g. crocs, lace up flats or clogs.

     Animal Handling Uniform:

    Overalls (colour: bottle green)

    Short sleeved college branded polo shirt (colour: bottle green)

    Working trousers (colour: dark colours e.g. black, navy etc.)

    Black working boots (preferably steel toe caps or hard wellingtons).

  • Personal IT device for use at University Centre Sparsholt

    If you are considering upgrading or buying a new IT device to use whilst studying at UCS, we recommend the following as a minimum specification.

    • Operating System: Windows 8.1 or Windows 10
    • RAM*: 64-bit systems: 4 GB of memory or more recommended
    • Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon™ Dual Core, with SSE2 technology
    • Hard Disk Space: 2 GB (minimum) free space available
    • Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 or higher
    • Connectivity: An internet connection is required for activation of trial and single-user licenses
    • Browser: A web browser is required for accessing subject specific software. Chrome or Chromium Edge is recommended.
    • Additional required software will be installed with the application: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables for Visual Studio 2019.

    These guidelines are provided to aid your decision making when purchasing new equipment. If you already own a personal device that does not meet these minimum requirements, it may not be necessary to replace it as there may be alternative ways to access the software and learning resources that you will use during your studies.
