Rod Greenwood, former Game and Wildlife Management lecturer at Sparsholt College, has been awarded the Ian Richardson Trophy for his exceptional contribution to wildlife management education and professional standards.
Seven awards were presented to worthy recipients, with the ceremony held at The Game Fair on the 25th July 2026 as part of BASC’s annual honours and awards recognising those who have made a lasting contribution to shooting sports, wildlife conservation and the wider countryside community.
With more than three decades of industry experience, Rod has built a distinguished career spanning both practical wildlife management and education. Throughout his time here at Sparsholt, he helped develop the knowledge and skills of future countryside professionals, while also contributing to Deer Management Qualifications (DMQ) training and promoting best practice across the sector.
His expertise in deer management, firearms safety, sustainability and wildlife management has supported the development of countless individuals pursuing careers in the countryside industry.
The award recognises Rod’s dedication to education, professional excellence and his lasting impact on the future of wildlife management.
