What will I learn?

The CMI Level 5 Certificate consists of two units:

Unit 531 Principles of Professional Coaching. After this unit you will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of professional coaching
  • Understand the process for contracting and delivering professional coaching

    535 Management and Leadership Influences in Coaching and Mentoring. After this unit you will be able to:

  • Understand the influence of management, leadership and organisational culture on coaching or mentoring
  • Understand how to support a Coachee or Mentee transition through change

    Where will it lead me?

    As well as opening up coaching and management opportunities in the workplace, this Level 5 course can provide a route into other professional qualifications.

    Learners may also wish to further their ongoing personal and professional development by accessing other CMI qualifications, such as the CMI Level 5 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Management and Leadership.

    Entry Requirements

    CMI does not specify entry requirements for these qualifications, but the college needs to ensure that learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability a the right level to undertake the learning and assessment.

    This is likely to include:

  • The ability to write and academically reference reports to a high standard
  • Some previous experience of coaching in the workplace OR a relevant qualification, e.g. a level 3 qualification in coaching or mentoring OR some previous training in coaching even if unaccredited
  • Unit 535 will likely require some experience of either management, leadership or coaching in the workplace as a basis for learners’ evaluation and analysis.

    Applicants must be 19+ on the start date of the course in order to apply/enrol on the course.

    Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to:

    · Existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started/start their course
    · Learners aged 19-24 with an EHCP
