Sparsholt College Group’s Farm Team have pledged to donate the equivalent value of one tonne of grain/500 litres of milk to help support the continued success of Hampshire Young Farmers (HFYFC) during their 80th anniversary.

2026 marks 80 years of Hampshire Young Farmers, a group who Sparsholt College Group has a longstanding partnership with. They provide young people aged 10–28 with opportunities to learn, develop skills and confidence, make friends and take part in a wide range of activities including agricultural competitions, sport, training, social events and fundraising. Meetings and activities are organised by members and club officers, with the support of club leaders.

Sparsholt College Group provides valuable support to the organisation throughout the year including an office space at Sparsholt’s campus and access to meeting rooms, sports facilities and event space for training and competitions.

Hampshire Young Farmers also hold their popular Stock Judging Skills Day at Sparsholt, a well-attended day that gives young people the opportunity to develop their livestock judging, observation, communication and presentation skills in a supportive environment. Sparsholt provides an inspirational setting for these activities, alongside its strong links with agriculture and the wider rural industries.

Furthermore, Sparsholt recently welcomed HFYFC to their Freshers’ Fair, providing an opportunity to introduce new students to Young Farmers and encourage them to get involved with their local club.

To mark its 80th anniversary, HFYFC is raising funds to help secure the future of the organisation. The target is £5,000, with supporters encouraged to donate £170 – the value of one tonne of grain or 500 litres of milk. Funds raised will help continue providing opportunities for young people across Hampshire, supporting skills development, wellbeing, community connections and future careers in agriculture and rural industries.

Sparsholt College also has a rich history supporting Agriculture in Hampshire and originally began life in 1899 as Hampshire’s first Farm School at Lower Mill Farm in Old Basing. Due to an expanding curriculum, the College then moved to the current site at Westley Farm, Sparsholt in 1914.

The College Group shares the ambition to support the future of young farmers, offering courses across a range of levels including T Levels and Degree programmes. It is continually enhancing its technology, facilities and teaching methods to provide an exceptional and forward-thinking educational experience that prepares students for an ever-evolving world.
