Level 3 Countryside Management

Future Plans: I’d like to be a countryside ranger. I really like the idea of being hands-on, getting to know the environment and understanding it.

” The structure of the countryside management course is very good because you spend time in lessons learning about all the different habitats and then you get to go out and apply your practical skills and methods to the environment. I really enjoy this because you can spend time with nature and get a better understanding of what it’s like to be out there. You’re based in a wonderful environment surrounded by so much nature and it’s a different and interesting place to study.

The tutors here are great. Dave is drawn towards the ecology side of countryside management and is very knowledgeable in this area. Stuart is an ex-ranger who is very practical so there is a good mixture between the units.

Because Sparsholt emphasises the practical side it allows you to get more job opportunities too because that’s primarily what a lot of industries look for, to see whether their prospective workers are hands-on.”
