Sparsholt College and University Centre Sparsholt’s (UCS) dedicated staff have been working hard to implement a range of safety measures across the Sparsholt site, ensuring our students feel safe and secure when they arrive at the campus in September.

Important changes have been made to transport arrangements, building navigation, and timetables for students arriving in the autumn term. Working with our expert Wellbeing team, Sparsholt is also ensuring that all students feel supported and confident to return or join their studies onsite.

With a countryside campus situated four miles outside of Winchester, many Sparsholt students travel to campus each day via bus or train. Lessons have been timetabled to take this into account, and students attending UCS will be beginning their degree courses a week later originally scheduled. This allows for a staggered approach for welcoming students back onto site safely without impacting upon their learning.

In preparation for college and UCS students arriving on site in September, practical changes have been made in all buildings across the campus.  By introducing clear and easy to follow one-way systems, plenty of hand-sanitising stations, and providing any personal protective equipment, practical lessons on site can go ahead.

Through these challenging times, the college has made student wellbeing a priority. Principal Designate, Julie Milburn, says “We’re looking forward to having everyone return safely in the autumn term. Some students may feel nervous about being on campus again, so we must be aware and respectful of each other’s feelings and know that it is okay to take things at a different pace to other people.”

Students showing symptoms and needing to self-isolate will continue to receive support from the college through online learning theory lessons should they feel well enough to do so. Julie Milburn continues: “Remember, we’re all in this together, and we’re here to help you succeed.”
