Tim Jackson, Principal of Sparsholt College Group has been presented with an Outstanding Contribution to Education Award at the 2019 Hampshire Education Awards.
Presented at Winchester Great Hall earlier this month, Tim was recognised amongst some of the most talented teachers, support staff and governors in the county.
Nominations were encouraged from all phases of education and for the first time this year Hampshire’s post-16 colleges were included alongside Hampshire-maintained and academy schools.
Councillor Roz Chadd, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for education, said: “I am delighted to hear of the exceptional work of teachers and support staff both in and out of the classroom, as well as the volunteers in Hampshire schools – supporting Hampshire pupils to grow into young people of whom we can all feel proud.
“They often overcome challenges, and this is an opportunity to say a very special thank you to every member of staff, governor and volunteer. The work of each and every one is important, appreciated and valued by your colleagues and Hampshire County Council.”
We were delighted to hear the praise from several colleagues and peers including Tim’s nomination, who remarked; “He has dedicated his career to championing the Further Education sector and inspiring students to recognise and achieve their full potential.”
Neil Hopkins commented: “As chair of the Sparsholt College Group governors, I see at close hand just how much time, energy and dedication Tim puts into his role at Sparsholt & Andover. He has a national reputation, far beyond Hampshire, and is rightly seen as one of the foremost leaders of Further Education in this country. Many, many students past and present owe him a great debt. I am delighted that he has received this award.”
Whilst, Kit Malthouse, MP for North West Hampshire, said: “ Tim is the extremely dedicated, hardworking and innovative principal of Sparsholt College, and his leadership has seen Sparsholt maintain an outstanding reputation for excellence and the ability to inspire and realise the potential of its students.”
Many congratulations again to Tim for such hard work and dedication, a very deserving recipient of such a respected honour.
