This month the annual Sparstoke Cup will be contested for the 10th time between Basingstoke Academy and Sparsholt College, played in memory of former Basingstoke player and Sparsholt student, Tom Aslett. Tom died just aged 20 following an unfortunate tractor accident and due to his love of Rugby his family and friends decided to create a match in his memory.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was chosen to benefit because of their efforts to help Tom after his accident and so far over £60,000 has been raised from the first nine years of the competition.
This year’s match will take place on Wednesday 25th November, 7.30pm at Down Grange, Basingstoke.
