Sparsholt College Group has been delighted to take part in the local community initiative, ‘The Fabric of Winchester’ by helping to craft a ‘Memory Quilt’ in collaboration with St John’s Winchester.

During the project, Individuals, families, community groups, churches, schools, and local businesses were asked to ‘donate’ a memory by creating a unique quilting block depicting a cherished story, a time, or a place in the city. More than 120 individual blocks were received to make the quilts.

The quilts will then be donated to Winchester Hospice, a gift from the community and St John’s in support of the impactful work of the charity providing palliative and end of life care.

Helen Perry, Assistant Principal Professions for Andover Campus said “it was a pleasure to get involved with this community project, and for the students to see how art can bring communities and stories together. The fabrics used were chosen to represent the Colleges green agenda, they are all found fabrics. The College Compass logo is a symbol of our connection to our Winchester Campus.”
