What will I learn?

The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations.

Delegates will learn about:
Chain of survival
Assessing an incident
Casualty assessment
Managing an unresponsive casualty
Recovery Position
CPR
AED safety considerations

  • Using an AED
  • Combining AED use with CPR
  • Using an AED on a child
    Procedures for when Emergency Services arrive

    Delegates need to bring with them to the course a copy of CPR and AED Made Easy by Nigel Barraclough, ISBN 095522943X available online and from all good bookshops.

    Entry Requirements

    There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

    Please Note

    Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started their course.
