What will I learn?

PRINCE2® (Projects in Controlled Environments) is a globally recognised project management methodology, originating from the UK. Using a variety of project scenarios, this course builds upon foundation by exploring how the methodology is applied to run a successful project.

The 2-day course allows participants to put into practice the terms, methodologies and processes learned in the foundation course. It also embeds the learning process so that participants are confident in its application in the workplace.

New for 2024, PRINCE2® version 7 has been updated to be simpler, easier to use and more up to date in describing how agile can be used within project management. It introduces people aspects to project management, helping to improve the management of project stakeholders and understand organisational change.

PRINCE2® Practitioner is designed for project managers, team members, project support staff, project stakeholders and those already confident in handling projects or have been exposed to project management previously.

The intention is to teach the application of the PRINCE2® practices, processes and techniques, so that delegates can attain PRINCE2® certification at practitioner level.
The workshop has the following objectives:

  • Understand the benefits PRINCE2® brings to an organisation’s project management environment.
  • Understand the application of the PRINCE2® methodology.
  • Identify organisation challenges of implementing PRINCE2®
  • Use of PRINCE2® to streamline project deployment.
  • Address and manage project risks, complexity and issues using PRINCE2®

The course will end by 1pm on the second day to allow delegates to leave and take the exam at home, or they can choose a later date within twelve months.

However, in order to maximise exam outcome, there is an expectation that delegates will take the exam within two weeks of the course. Post course exam support will be provided for two weeks after the course for this purpose.

Please note that delegates will be expected to already have a physical or e-book version of ‘Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 7th edition’ as this is supplied for the Foundation course. If you do not have the 7th edition of the book, the e-book can be supplied by Sparsholt at additional cost or learners may purchase a hardcopy. This is available online or from all good bookshops ISBN 9925344506.

    Where will it lead me?

The course concludes with delegates sitting the PRINCE2® Practitioner exam at home within 12 months of the exam registration date.

Delegates with an interest in using agile techniques within a PRINCE2 project environment may be interested in our Agile Essentials course.

    Entry Requirements

Whilst delegates may attend the course without a foundation qualification, they must hold a PRINCE2® Foundation version 6 or 7 certificate before taking the practitioner exam.

It is recommended that delegates have some previous experience of managing projects.
