What will I learn?

Having completed a City & Guilds Level 2 TIG Welding course, you might want to consider the City & Guilds Level 3 TIG Welding course to take your skills further and gain a formal industry standard qualification.

The level 3 TIG award is available as three parts A.C. TIG for welding aluminium or D.C. TIG on plate or pipe for welding low carbon steels and stainless steels. Each course is a standalone award qualification. Suitable for those who are undertake welding in their jobs or have previous experience of the type, process and polarity of welding they wish to undertake, this course will cover

  • Producing a butt weld in the horizontal and overhead positions
  • Producing a tee fillet weld in the overhead position
  • Producing a full-penetration tee fillet weld in the overhead position
  • Producing an outside corner weld in the overhead position
  • Knowledge assessment about factors that influence weld quality and Health and Safety requirements relevant to welding

    Where will it lead me?

    This is an industry standard qualification, completion of which will allow you apply for welding jobs.

    Entry Requirements

    Learners must have completed the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in TIG Welding course.

    Candidates wishing to complete the A.C.TIG course will have to prove proficiency of welding aluminium with the A.C. TIG welding process

    Learners may also be asked to attend a test weld and an interview

    Please Note

    Due to funding restrictions this course is not available to existing full time Sparsholt College/Andover College students aged 16, 17 or 18 (or 19-24 with an EHCP) on the 31/8 in the year they started their course.
