FRASER
Fishery Studies and Aquatics
The course is the perfect mix of practical and in the classroom. My highlight is definitely the practical side. We go out to sites all over the south of England learning about fish in the workplace. With Sparsholt you also have the great opportunity of an industry placement. I’m going to Calverton Fish Farm and this will help me network in the industry and gain contacts for the future.
Hi, I’m Fraser knight studying land and wildlife level three fish here at Sparsholt College.
I’ve come here to Sparsholt to get some more inside knowledge so I can hopefully start my own fishery. The course is the perfect mix of practical and in the classroom and you get all of the aspects that you need to start up learning about fish. Here at Sparsholt the facilities are amazing, with a lake that you can fish at with the SRTC where food trials are carried out and a professional facility, and the aquatic centre where there’s two sides marine and fish farming.
My highlight of the course is definitely the practical side we go out to sites all over the south of England learning about fish in the workplace. With a Sparsholt you have the great opportunity to do a work placement and get out into the workplace doing things like netting, fish stocks and recirculation systems. With my work placement I’m going to Claverton Fish Farm working with Alan Henshaw. This will help me network in the industry getting contacts for the future. My future plans are to go on to university to get the qualifications to hopefully lead me on to my dream job as a fish manager and I 100% believe Sparsholt can get me there and help me do this.
