Equine Studies

I chose to study the Level 3 course as I grew up with horses, it’s my passion, and I wanted to make a career in the industry.

The horses at Sparsholt were great! I also enjoyed meeting new people and having the opportunity to go on trips to experience different parts of the equine industry and see a variety of different jobs. Going out for a work placement also really opened my eyes to what I wanted to do and achieve in the industry. One of the highlights of my time at Sparsholt were the competitions we took part in with our tutors.

Sparsholt gives you so many different opportunities to find the perfect job for you in or around the equine industry.

I found it useful to gain knowledge of the treatments and care for different illnesses and medical problems horses can suffer with. I do use these methods and treatments in the workplace on a regular basis with racehorses.

I am now working for a National Hunt Racing yard in Lambourn. My job involves being on the yard at 6am every morning looking after and exercising four to five horses, as well as travelling to different racecourses around the country and meeting lots of new people.

I am really pleased I went to Sparsholt. I learnt a great deal which I’ve been able to use in my job and I met some amazing people. Sparsholt gives you so many different opportunities to find the perfect job for you in or around the equine industry. It’s a great place to learn more challenging things to help you prepare yourself for going out into the world.
