Game and Wildlife Management

I wanted to study Game and Wildlife Management and Sparsholt has one of the best reputations in the country.

The course was practical and good fun – I learnt a lot about deer management and was able to complete my industry tickets such as ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) to help me when applying for jobs. I enjoyed using the new outdoor rifle range.

Sparsholt also helped me to gain industry links and contacts. For my work placement I worked on a commercial pheasant and partridge estate – this gave me additional practical skills.

The tutors were easy to work with, giving me support when I needed it. My course highlight was our study tour to Teesdale where we visited and experienced three different grouse moors.

The social side of Sparsholt is good fun and you make lots of friends here. I lived on site which made college a lot easier as I didn’t have to worry about travelling in every day, which gave me more time to complete my work.

I am going to work as an underkeeper. I hope to progress to become a head keeper in the future on a wild partridge estate.
