Current FdSc Marine Ecology and Conservation degree student

Sparsholt was the ideal place for me to study as I grew up enjoying the countryside and appreciating British wildlife. I worked for a while in small animal holdings but was keen to progress with my passion and chose to come to Sparsholt to study the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Conservation and Wildlife Management.

This was a great course and taught me so much about our wildlife. We were constantly outside or on study trips around the country and my interest in the marine environment grew. As I came to the end of my Extended Diploma, I applied to carry on studying at Sparsholt on the FdSc Marine Ecology and Conservation degree.

I wanted to continue studying at Sparsholt because of the personal and interactive teaching system I had already experienced here. The small classes give you an individual learning experience and relationship with your lecturers unlike the more typically larger classes of most universities. The lecturers help in any way they can to enable your further learning; through their industry connections and personal experiences they aid your education to ensure you get the most from studying at Sparsholt.

This course has helped me experience my desired field of work through my placement at the Seawatch Foundation, a marine research charity. I believe completing my degree here will help me on my way to my dream career within cetacean research throughout the UK’s waters and I am excited to find out what else it will bring in the next two years.
