Level 3 Fish Management

Future plans: to study BSc (Hons) Aquaculture and Fishery Management at Sparsholt next year

“Originally, I wanted to become a marine biologist but A Levels weren’t for me, so Sparsholt was a different route to getting to university.

I first fell in love with the river management side of the course, however, I have recently turned towards the cyprinid farming aspect as it excites me and I love learning about it. I have also loved all the real life, hands-on practicals such as  netting, electrofishing and bank maintenance  –  they made me realise what it would be like to work in the fishery industry and have only made my passion for the course continue. Learning to fish was amazing!

Sparsholt’s fishery department is a calm, friendly and fun department. The lectures have been so helpful, not only being taught the course but also hearing from the lecturers and their own experiences within the industry. The course has given me real life experience with situations that I may find myself in when I’m in a career.

I’m going on to study BSc Aquaculture and Fishery Management at Sparsholt next year. After building up my knowledge, I wish to work within the carp farming industry.”
