Future Plans: After finishing my course I’ll either work in grounds management or I’ll set up my own landscaping company

“Sparsholt had been on my radar for many years – it has a reputation for being a leader in the field and I wanted to learn from the best. The thought of also being involved in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and working on site at the set of Gardeners’ Question Time was a big draw. It truly is a phenomenal place to learn.

I have really enjoyed the course’s diversity. From plant identification to pests and diseases, turf management to establishing amenity areas, timber and surveying to plant and soil science, there is something new every day.  It’s full on and fantastic!

The tutors are phenomenal – professional, experts in their fields, easy to talk to and engaging. The links to the industry are simply fantastic. I’ve already experienced so much, including visits to RHS Garden Wisley, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, trade shows such as FutureScape and work experience placements to a number of local gardens and at Marwell Zoo.

Every aspect of my learning is preparing me for the real world, and because of the diverse subject areas covered I will have a portfolio of skills suitable for a number of different sectors within the horticultural industry.

After finishing my course I’ll either work in grounds management or I’ll set up my own landscaping company.  Already my business management lessons are helping me to understand the complexities of setting up my own business.  My NPTC examinations are also giving me industry recognised qualifications that are making me more and more employable by the day.”
