Jordan is a Level 3 Business Admin apprentice working at Sparsholt College Hampshire incorporating Andover College. She said: “I chose to become an apprentice because I didn’t want to go to university but I also didn’t want to stop learning. I knew that I wanted to go into business and I wanted to have a good career, so when I got told about the Marketing Apprenticeship at the college, I knew I had to apply as it seemed the perfect fit for my future.”
She found out about the apprenticeship scheme from her Business Lecturer. Jordan said: “She knew that I was unsure about my future, so she explained the apprenticeship opportunity to me and it seemed perfect!”
After a short adjustment period she found the perfect balance between college and work life. She explained how she achieves that balance: “I write to do lists every day and have weekly catch ups with my manager to make sure that my work load is being managed correctly. I then make space once a week to catch up on coursework. I know who I need to speak to if I need help. I also have a lovely team that are always more than willing to help me out.”
Jordan has achieved many things since starting her apprenticeship. She said: “I have the responsibility of looking after Andover Digital Marketing and it was a proud moment when I realised that I was trusted to do this job. I also feel proud when I see my work being appreciated and admired by many of the staff.”
After finishing her apprenticeship, she is hoping to stay in the College’s Marketing department and continue to develop her digital marketing skills giving her more experience to benefit her CV. She expanded: “I would like to eventually move on to a big digital marketing company such as google. I like to set myself big goals as I have high hopes for my future thanks to Andover College.”
When asked would you recommend an apprenticeship Jordan said: “If you have the opportunity to study an apprenticeship in your chosen career, then go for it! You will benefit massively from an apprenticeship as you get to learn all the skills and knowledge you need while putting it into practice every day in your workplace. You will finish your apprenticeship with invaluable experience that will Put you ahead of most applicants applying for the same job as you.”
