FdSc in Sports Fisheries and Aquaculture

I’d always seen the name Sparsholt in fishing magazines – not just adverts but contributions to articles from students and staff, who seemed to have a good understanding of the subject. After school I got sponsorship with a bait company and while working there I met another ex-Sparsholt student who told me all about the College. I then thought about how studying further could cement changing my hobby into a career.

All the lecturers are very professional and I’d already heard of many of them through their industry activities. They could not have been more helpful. The facilities were also a draw – we’ve used the National Aquatics Training Centre, Salmonid Rearing and Trials Centre and the fishery constantly throughout our course.

I knew that if I wanted to increase my employment opportunities a degree would be useful, so decided to progress to the foundation degree and then hopefully top it up to the full degree. Fish biology and behaviour really interest me so I’m looking forward to it. Long-term, I’m interested in the media side of angling and also aquaculture.
