Head of Carnivores West Midlands Safari Park and DMZAA Alumni
My passion for animals began when I was very young; I left school and began my career by completing an animal care course. I did my work experience and college placement at West Midlands Safari Park, and it was here I discovered my love for large Carnivores!
I was lucky enough to be offered a seasonal Carnivore Keeper role at the park when I was only 18 and that is when my journey to becoming the Head Keeper of Carnivores began!
Over the years I have been a part of the Carnivore team, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to complete the DMZAA whilst being in a full-time position. This enabled me to grow and develop what I was learning into my role.
The DMZAA is a great course for people like myself who don’t necessarily have a University degree under their belt, but still want to progress in the Zoo industry. Once achieving this diploma along with my growing experience, I could step into a Senior role confidently and be a proud role model to new keepers coming into the field.
In September 2024, I was lucky enough to take on the role as the new Head Keeper of Carnivores at West Midland Safari Park and feel proud to display my passion in this amazing industry!
