Animal Studies
I chose to study this course as I want to become a zookeeper and deal with animal husbandry.
I have most enjoyed the time working with all the animals as it gives you a hands on chance to put what you have learnt in theory lessons into practice – I have learnt a lot about the way in which amphibians are cared for in captivity.
I hope to continue studying at Sparsholt on the Foundation Degree in Applied Zoo Science and to then get a job at a zoo specialising in reptiles and their care. Sparsholt has helped with this as the different modules you cover over the two years help shape you for the industry and provide you with all the information you will need to either run your own business or work – learning how to manage customers and care for the animals. The facilities have also helped me mould my future by strongly confirming that I want to work in the animal industry full time and care for a wide range of different animal species.
I will miss the connection I have made with a large variety of people – I have become friends with other residents on a range of different courses and found that we all have a lot of the same interests.
