Level 3 Animal Management

Future Plans: I am hoping to complete a Veterinary Nursing degree and specialise in exotics

“I have learnt so much at Sparsholt. I like that the college has a wide range of animal species to work with and the amount of hands on practical experience on offer.

The instructors are extremely helpful and supportive, helping you to work with the animals at a comfortable pace and even taking time outside of classes to provide help. I have also been able to volunteer on site, gaining more confidence and experience with a range of animals which opened up some amazing work placement opportunities! I have also enjoyed taking part in research projects with some of the new animals that we have here, such as the racoon dogs.

My job as a Sparsholt Learning Technology coach has also given me new skills with a wide variety of technology such as the drone, the 360 camera, Virtual Reality headsets, the Swivl, Mahara and Moodle. Our aim is to integrate technology into land-based subjects, educating students and staff so that they are eventually trained to work with the technology that is rapidly changing their industry. I have worked closely with the agriculture department on this, using a drone to film their progress with various cultivation work around the campus. I will be able to use these skills when it comes to future research, like using a drone for nature surveys, and I will then be able to apply this to future jobs as well.

After college I am hoping to complete a Veterinary Nursing degree and specialise in exotics. Sparsholt provides many amazing opportunities and is always aiming to improve your knowledge and push you to your full potential.”
