Level 3 Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Principles

Future plans: With the help of the College’s apprenticeships team to gain an apprenticeship within the motor trade with prospects of moving into motorsport

“I’ve always had an interest in cars and have been working on my own car ever since I learned to drive at 17. I wanted to get a decent Motor Vehicle qualification, so after researching my local colleges, I decided on Sparsholt as it ticked all the boxes for me.

The ability to work on my own car as well as the privately owned Ford Escort rally car has helped me learn to troubleshoot real world examples of faults with cars and develop good workmanship skills. Each day is different, there is always a different car in the workshop.

I’ve enjoyed being treated as a mature student by the tutors. I’ve made plenty of friends here and get on really well with my course mates, we are a team and help each other out.

The tutors bring a broad range of experiences within the trade and that has helped me gauge what to look for when I progress after college. With the help of the College’s apprenticeships team I hope to gain an apprenticeship within the motor trade with prospects of moving into motorsport.
The course has been highly beneficial to my career progression and should hopefully set me up for my future.”
