What will I learn?
You will learn how to care for and look after a rangeof animals, from housing and feeding requirements, to handling, behaviour, health and exercise. You will learn the theory behind the what, when, why and how and then carry this out in practical sessions.
The course consists of 1 practical day per week and 2-3 days of theory lessons. The units are assessed in different ways such as written assessments, synoptic assessments and synoptic exams. During your practical sessions you will have the opportunity to develop your practical skills which form part of your overall assessment, therefore attendance and correct PPE are important.
You will gain hands-on experience with the farm livestock, exotic animals, domestic pets and birds of the College’s Animal Health and Welfare Research Centre. We hope to be able to offer UK based study, various trips and visits to zoo collections and an opportunity to attend guest speaker sessions, making valuable industry contacts

Entry requirements
Four GCSE’s at grade 3 or above or a level 1 qualification in Animal Care with theory assignments completed at a merit level. In addition, applicants must have achieved a grade 4 or above in either English or Maths.
