Dear Student,

You will no doubt be aware from the latest weather reports that Storm Eunice is forecast to cause significant disruption tomorrow.  In their update, the Met Office have stated that there is “a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life and damage to buildings.  Roads, bridges and railway lines are likely to close and there is a good chance that power cuts, possibly prolonged, could occur.”

In light of this, the college has taken the decision to switch all learning to online learning for tomorrow Friday 18 February and so there will be no onsite teaching from either Sparsholt campus or Andover campus.  The storm is predicted to be at its height in the area at the exact time when students and staff would be travelling from home to college – many of whom have long journeys. In consequence, we have cancelled all college arranged transport for this one day.

We have the technology to provide work online / stream live lessons, and staff will prepare for this.  The only potential disruption to the provision of remote learning could be power cuts, over which none of us have any control!

Please be assured a catering service will operate tomorrow from Bytes for all Sparsholt based students residing on site.

We have tried to provide good notice so that you have some time to prepare.  In the meantime, keep safe and we wish you a good Reading Week.

Best wishes

Julie Milburn
