The Board is the college’s most senior decision-making body and is made up of volunteers who bring a wide range of experience. Most members are external appointees, selected by the Board based on the skills and expertise needed, and drawn from diverse occupations. The Board also includes two staff governors, three student governors, and the Principal & Chief Executive.

The Chair of Governors is Neil Hopkins. Names and profiles of Board and committee members are available below under Governance Documents. Correspondence may be sent to Sparsholt College Hampshire, Sparsholt, Winchester, Hampshire SO21 2NF.

The Board provides strategic direction, sets objectives, and monitors performance. It ensures that decisions are transparent, well-informed, rigorous, and timely, and that robust systems of financial, operational, and risk control are in place. The Board also approves policies to ensure the college operates in line with statutory and funding requirements. Day-to-day management of the organisation is assigned to the Principal.

The Board meets four times a year and operates through standing committees: Audit; Curriculum, Skills & Stakeholders; Quality & Standards; Resources; Governance & Search; and Remuneration. The Board’s Scheme of Delegation and minutes of meetings are available below.

The Board is accountable to the college’s learners, the wider community, and other stakeholders with an interest in the college’s success, and publishes an Annual Report and Financial Statements each year.
